Villa Arrigona was built between 1613 and 1622. It was intended as a country dwelling for Count Pompeo Arrigoni who was one of the chief ministers of the Gonzaga family which ruled Mantova (1328-1707).

The architect was Antonio Maria Viani (1540-1629) one of the most famous artists of Mantova and of 17th century Italy.

The Villa is a private property still owned by a descendant of Count Pietro Arrigoni who created it.
